Current position: Dietitian for the state of TN, Private Nutritional Chef
# of years in practice: 3 1/2 years

What are your current job responsibilities?

Public Health: I work with Women, Infants & Children providing nutrition education and guidance to make healthier choices in diet
Medical Nutrition Therapy: Counseling patients in a one on one setting to provide guidance on a nutritionally sound diet
Community Nutrition: Direct programs in the community to raise awareness of wellness and health by choosing a healthy diet

What is the biggest challenge of being a dietitian working for the state of TN?

My biggest challenge is convincing peers and patients that making positive changes in your diet can actually effect your entire life.

What is the most important skill set that you use in your position?

The quality of affording easy familiarity and sociability. In order to work with the public, you must make them feel comfortable.

As NDDA president-elect, what do you see for the future of our organization?

As President-Elect, I feel that NDDA will be forced to be the voice of reason to the public effected by obesity. We will be in the community, allowing the public to reach out and be educated.

When you are not working, how do you like to spend your time?

When I am not working, I am cooking or studying. I recently enrolled in a Culinary Arts program to advance my career of cooking. I am a private nutritional chef at this time, yet I feel my skills need to be greatly enhanced. I plan to establish my own business where I am able to design your diet and prepare your menu!
